How It Works

From Profile to Matched Awards in Seconds

The eligibility finder is designed to simplify the often-confusing scholarship search process. Here is how the matching engine evaluates your inputs and produces personalized results.

1

Enter Your Academic Profile

Select your current academic status (high school senior, undergraduate, graduate student, or returning adult learner) and set your cumulative unweighted GPA using the slider. The tool uses this information to filter awards that have minimum GPA thresholds or status-specific eligibility windows. For example, the Graduate Research Fellowship is only available to students currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program, while the Returning Scholars Opportunity Fund is reserved for adult learners aged 25 and older re-entering education after a career interruption.

2

Choose Your Field of Study

Select the academic discipline or career track that best describes your intended major or certification path. Several Foundation scholarships are designated for specific fields: the STEM Innovation Scholarship targets science, technology, engineering, and mathematics students, while the Future Educators Teaching Fellowship is reserved for aspiring K–12 educators. General-eligibility awards like the Founders Merit Scholarship accept applicants from any discipline, so you will always see those in your results regardless of your selected field.

3

Indicate Financial Need & Service

Select the financial need category that best describes your situation based on your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the FAFSA, then choose the community service level that reflects your documented volunteer hours over the past 24 months. Need-based awards like the Healthcare Heroes Nursing Grant and First-Generation Pioneer Grant require demonstrated financial need, while merit-only awards do not factor EFC into their evaluation. The Community Service Excellence Award requires extensive documented service of 100 or more verified hours.

4

Review Your Personalized Matches

The results panel instantly displays every Foundation scholarship for which you meet the baseline eligibility criteria, along with the maximum award amount, a brief description, and category tags. Meeting eligibility does not guarantee an award — all scholarships are competitive and evaluated holistically by the Scholarship Review Committee. However, this tool ensures you never miss an opportunity that fits your profile. Use the “View Full Scholarship Directory” button to read detailed requirements, deadlines, and application instructions for each award.

Common Questions

Scholarship Finder FAQ

Answers to the most frequently asked questions about using the eligibility tool and submitting your scholarship application.

No. The eligibility finder identifies scholarships for which you meet the minimum published criteria, but all Foundation awards are competitive. The Scholarship Review Committee evaluates each completed application holistically, considering the strength of your personal essay, letters of recommendation, portfolio (if applicable), and the overall applicant pool for that cycle. Meeting eligibility is the necessary first step, not a guarantee of selection. We encourage every eligible student to apply — many applicants underestimate their competitiveness.

Yes. Students are welcome and encouraged to apply for every scholarship for which they are eligible. The online application portal allows you to submit materials for multiple awards using a single applicant profile. Some application components, such as your academic transcript and personal statement, can be shared across multiple scholarship submissions to reduce redundant effort. However, please note that certain awards (such as the Founders Merit Scholarship and the Graduate Research Fellowship) require supplemental materials specific to that program, such as a research abstract or faculty endorsement, in addition to common application elements.

Published GPA thresholds are firm minimum requirements and cannot be waived. If your cumulative GPA falls below the stated minimum for a specific scholarship, you will not be eligible for that particular award during this application cycle. However, several Foundation scholarships have lower thresholds or no GPA requirement at all: the Returning Scholars Opportunity Fund has no minimum GPA for first-time applicants, and the Skilled Trades Advancement Award evaluates candidates primarily on career goals and program enrollment rather than grade point average. We recommend using the finder to discover all awards you do qualify for, and contacting our scholarship office if you have questions about extenuating academic circumstances.

Completely. The eligibility finder runs entirely in your web browser using client-side logic. No personal data, GPA, financial information, or search inputs are transmitted to our servers, stored in any database, or shared with any third party. Your privacy is fully protected. You can use the tool as many times as you like with different criteria combinations to explore your options. When you are ready to formally apply, the official application portal uses AES-256 encryption and complies with FERPA student privacy regulations.

The online application portal opens annually on January 2 and remains accessible through the final posted deadline for each award. Most scholarships close on March 15, while the Future Educators Teaching Fellowship and Healthcare Heroes Nursing Grant extend to April 1, and the Skilled Trades Advancement Award deadline is April 15. The Returning Scholars Opportunity Fund operates on a rolling basis with quarterly review cycles (March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31). Award notifications for the spring cycle are sent by email no later than May 15. Visit our Scholarship Directory for the complete deadline calendar.
